Paul Minter introduced Club Members to the ébauche method of underpainting in thinned tones of colour to build structure and composition, with buildings in darker tones and sky and background in desaturated colours.

Once the underpainting was completed, Paul explained how to add brighter colours to produce an atmospheric Bonnard-type effect.

" Paul gave tips throughout the day on painting windows, mixing colour, using a ruler with paint - and he brought some beautiful examples of his work to give us inspiration. "

" He made a complicated townscape accessible to everyone. "
